5TH ANNIVERSARY
HFA - THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWCASE
The Soho Hotel in London, dubbed by Tatler Magazine as "the sexiest hotel in the world" recently, certainly lived up to its name on Friday September 19th when it hosted our 5th Anniversary Showcase.
HFAers past and present, parents and friends, media grandees, people who have featured in our documentaries, jetted in from all over the UK, Hong Kong, the USA, Paris and Vienna to attend a wine and canape reception. Followed by a 90 minute screening of clips from or whole films in a cinema situation, viewing HFA work on a big screen in sumptuous surroundings.
"A good time was had by all," says Luke Gilchrist. "The atmosphere was electric in the cinema for the screening - strangely quiet for the first film, Sweeping the Graves in Hong Kong. I really think they were stunned by the standard and quality of the film."
"Documentaries - inform, educate, emotionally and intellectually touch and affect and move us", comments John Goddard. "Ours aim to do that and often achieve it, as was shown by the response and applause".
"It is a great thing to see your work on a big screen for the first time, even if you see your mistakes or what you could have done better or differently in a big way too", says Tiff Wear, HFAer of 2006/07 and director of the mammoth Barga Music Festival in Tuscany film.
